Description of a train journey from Gdańsk to Cracow:

Recently I've taken a business-related train journey to Cracow. I was supposed to meet a potential investor in his company office. Unfortunately, my car broke down and was being repaired at the mechanic's at that moment, so I had to rely on the public means of transport. I was not one bit surprised when it turned out that there was a 20 minute delay. When I got on the train I found that nobody really respected the division into smoking and non-smoking compartments because people still thought it appropriate to light up a cigarette in the corridor just outside the sliding door to the booth. This was not the only thing that aroused a feeling of disgust in me. Why are people allowed to take parts of their wardrobe off in the compartment? And I am not talking about their coats, scarves or sweaters, but their shoes and even their socks. Not everybody wants to see what others are hiding underneath their clothes. This should definitely be forbidden. However, just when I was about to swear to myself that I would never get on a train again, I was reminded about the positive features of this particular way of travelling. A young man sitting in front of me started up a conversation which was very amusing and educational. I learned a lot of interesting things about the life of contemporary students, their favourite pastimes and their aspirations for the future. I think I will go on another train journey after all.
