I was very excited about the party we were to have this New Year's Eve. It was meant to be elegant and sophisticated, very much different from the kind of parties we got used to over the years. The first thing I had to take care of was, of course, my outfit. As you have probably already guessed I couldn't just wear jeans and a nice top. It had to be formal clothing and so I spent a number of hours searching for an appropriate dress and matching shoes, not to mention the jewellery. I put a lot of effort into it, more than I have ever done before. Another thing was that it was certainly not a type of event to which you could go alone. Being that I don't have a partner, I had to come up with someone that would be willing to accompany me. After much deliberation I finally decided to ask my fellow colleague, Peter. On New Year's Eve we both got dressed up. He wore a black suit and a red tie. He picked me up at seven o'clock and we went off to spend the most amazing night of our lives. The atmosphere was indeed very sophisticated, the food was delicious and the whole interior was decorated in the 1920s style, similar to the one you can see in Humphrey Bogart films. I have to say that I didn't expect to have so much fun at a formal party.
