PAST CONTINUOUS

- Ann, what were you doing yesterday at 3? I phoned you and you didn’t answer.
- Oh! I was at the school picnic at the seaside.
- What was the weather like?
- The sun was shining, a warm wind was blowing and it was really nice.
- What was the programme of the picnic? Did you play any sports or just swim in the sea and sunbathe?
- We did a lot of things. While one group was windsurfing with the instructor, others were playing beach volleyball. And our team won the final match. It was great!
- Congratulations! Was the headmaster with you?
- Yes. We were sitting at the fire when he came and started the School Festival of Sea Songs.
- Did you take part?
- No, of course not. When they were singing I was painting a big poster with the arts teacher. We were still working on it when it suddenly started to rain and so we had to leave quickly.
