Jak się uczyć akcentu?

Nauka akcentu należy raczej do trudniejszych czynności, niemniej istniej kilka ciekawych technik, dzięki którym może to się stać znacznie prostsze.

Back-chaining

Back-chaining is a technique to help students pronounce words. Instead of starting at the beginning of the word, the teacher will say the word as a model and get the student to say the last syllable, or morpheme, then work backwards to the whole word, which makes natural stress easier. The same technique can also be used with whole sentences.
Example
The following sequence is an example of a backchaining drill:

  • Teacher: Known
  • Learners: Known
  • Teacher: I'd have known
  • Learners: I'd have known
  • Teacher: If I'd have known
  • Learners: If I'd have known etc

Tak więc backchaining polega na tym, iż wybieramy zdanie, słuchamy go. Zapamiętujemy i powtarzamy po jednym słowie, od końca. Dokładamy przedostanie do ostatniego, przed-przedostatnie do przedostatniego aż złożymy całość.

Front-chaining

Podobną techniką jest front-chaining. Polega dokładnie na tym samym, z tym, iż zaczynamy od początku, a nie od końca zdania.

Shadowing

Speech shadowing is a technique in which subjects repeat speech immediately after hearing it (usually through earphones). The reaction time between hearing a word and pronouncing it can be as short as 254 ms or even 150 ms. This is only the delay duration of a speech syllable. While a person only is asked to repeat words, they also automatically process its syntax and semantics. Words repeated during shadowing imitate the words overheard as they resemble them more than the same words when read aloud.

Shadowing to metoda polecana przeznaczona dla bardziej zaawansowanych osób, polegająca na powtarzaniu usłyszanych tekstów (na zasadzie echa) starając się skopiować usłyszaną intonację.
